Bank Robbery Skibbereen Cork

Today July 21, 2008, news is just breaking of a armed robbery at the Bank of Ireland in Skibbereen Cork. Early reports say there was a car hijacked shortly after the robbery but this is unconfirmed at present. The sleepy West Cork town is in shock at the events as Gardai investigate what happened.

Two armed men are being sought after they held-up a bank in Skibbereen, Co Cork.

At around 11.30am this morning two men entered the Bank of Ireland in the town.

One man was armed with a shotgun, the second man was armed with a small fire arm.

GardaĆ­ are unsure whether the smaller firearm was genuine or an imitation.

No one was injured and no shots were fired during the robbery.

The men made off with an undisclosed sum of money from the bank.

While making their getaway the men crashed their car and stole another car before making their escape.

One man is described as being around 6ft tall in height, the second man was around 5'8".
